High-Temperature Chemistry:
Fe/Ni-based alloy strengthened by niobium-tantalum complex (Nb+Ta: 3.15-4.15%). Aluminum/titanium limitation (<0.40%) prevents gamma-prime formation. Chromium (20-23%) develops self-repairing Cr₂O₃ layers at extreme temperatures.
Mechanical Performance Profile:
Creep Rupture: 180 MPa @815°C for 10,000h
Cyclic Oxidation: <0.05 mg/cm² mass loss @980°C (ASTM G54)
Cryogenic Toughness: 120J Charpy impact @-196°C
Fatigue Strength: 550 MPa @10⁷ cycles (R=0.1)
Aerospace Manufacturing:
Cold pilgering achieves wall thickness tolerances of ±5%. Solution annealing at 1150°C under argon cover gas. Continuous eddy current testing detects flaws >0.125mm deep per AMS 2631B.
