"I’m Melody French, and together with my husband, award-winning Chef Mark French, we own and operate The Silver Fork Restaurant in picturesque Manchester Village, Vermont. While Mark is creating culinary works of art in his beautiful new kitchen, I run the front of the house and love being the resident Sommelier and Mixologist.

Speaking of beautiful new kitchens, we are excited to announce that we have just moved to a fabulous new location inside the old Mark Skinner Library in the heart of the Village. It’s like a rich layer cake of local community and literary history with a sweet mid-century modern ganache. (Did I tell you we love food?)

We have an International menu that we call “a Menu in Movement”. The Chef makes changes according to his inspiration, what is fresh at the market or what he finds in season, which means that I frequently update the menu with Chef’s inspirations and daily specials. I will continue to tweek and edit this blog to give you as much information as possible.

    A Little History…
I’m often asked why our menu is so eclectic. Well, it’s all about our history. Mark’s illustrious career began at a young age with a five year stint under a German Chef. He then went on to work with Hilton International for ten years, after which we opened Mark’s at the Melia in Ponce, Puerto Rico and had a great run for thirteen years. After 20 years in Puerto Rico, we moved back state-side to St. Louis for two years when Mark’s brother Clark called to tell us that a quaint little restaurant space had become available in Manchester. We flew out, took one look and decided this was for us. Mark and I opened the Silver Fork in September of 2011 in that cute little saltbox with six tables and six bar stools…and the rest, as they say, is history. I should mention that we both love food and wine and we want to share this love with our guests. Did I mention that we both love food and wine? Oh…I did already…well…it’s worth saying twice.

Hoping to see you in the dining room,

    Melody"
