Earlier when the game started, the Kerala Blasters team was dominated totally by the visiting team Chennaiyin Fc. However, with the progress of the game, they made a great comeback and took the game to the level of excitement where they successfully managed to draw the game.
Rafael Crivellaro's free-kick appeared to deflect off Rahim Ali before nestling in Sachin Suresh's net, giving Chennaiyin the lead in the first minute. But it didn't take long for the Blasters to go back on level terms, as Kwame Peprah drew a foul from Ajith Kumar, allowing Diamantakos the opportunity from the penalty spot, which he took and sent Debjit Majumder the wrong way.

Chennaiyin extended their lead midway through the first half when the Kerala Blasters were caught wide open in defense, and Rahim slipped in a pass to Murray, who made no mistake in slotting it past Sachin.
The Blasters cut the lead in half before halftime. Kwame Peprah scored his first-ever ISL goal, as he returned Ivan Vukomanovic's faith in him despite no attacking returns in the previous seven games this season. Adrian Luna's shot was scuffed, but it fell to Peprah, who took one touch before shooting it past Debjit, who had little chance.
The Kerala Blasters were back on terms just 15 minutes after the break. They played an aggressive game in the second half and gave a tough competition to the Chennaiyin team. A fantastic long-range effort from Diamantakos, who collected a Danish Farooq ball in stride before smashing one to Debjit's left and into the top corner.
